Apple is introducing a major new design language across all its platforms this fall, starting with iOS 26 (formerly known as iOS 18). The design is called Liquid Glass, and while Apple is pitching it as a dramatic shift, it may be more subtle than it sounds — and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
What is Liquid Glass?
A new design aesthetic aimed at making the UI feel more fluid, tactile, and immersive. Expect more transparent layers, depth effects, blurred textures, and refined animations across the system. It’s not a radical redesign, but it enhances the polish and visual consistency.
iOS 26 Developer & Public Beta
The developer beta has been out for weeks, and now the public beta is available to everyone. Early impressions suggest it’s more of an evolution than a revolution in visual design. Other new features beyond Liquid Glass are also packed into iOS 26, making it a significant update overall.
A Reminder for Beta Testers
Backup your device before installing the beta. Apple reminds users that beta software may be buggy, and things may not work as expected. Submitting feedback helps Apple iron out the issues before the final release.
