Leipzig, Germany – July 30, 2025

RB Leipzig have set their valuation for striker Benjamin Šeško at €80 million (approximately £64 million) in guaranteed payments, with additional performance-based clauses that could push the total deal value closer to €90 million. The 22-year-old Slovenian international has become a key target for Manchester United and Newcastle United during the summer transfer window.

According to sources close to the negotiations, both Premier League clubs have made their interest known, with Manchester United reportedly advancing discussions more aggressively in recent days. United’s sporting director and scouting representatives have traveled to Germany to initiate formal talks with Leipzig. The club is believed to view Šeško as a long-term solution to their forward line, particularly amid ongoing restructuring under manager Erik ten Hag.

Newcastle United, meanwhile, have also made a competitive proposal. The club is said to be prepared to meet Leipzig’s financial demands and offer Šeško a prominent role in Eddie Howe’s squad. With striker Alexander Isak the subject of interest from other European clubs, Newcastle’s pursuit of a replacement has taken on added urgency.

Despite Leipzig’s public stance that Šeško is not for sale, club officials have acknowledged the existence of a gentleman’s agreement that allows the player to leave should a suitable offer arrive. Šeško, who scored 18 goals across all competitions last season, is under contract until 2028 but is reportedly open to a move this summer.

While both clubs remain in contention, multiple reports indicate that Šeško is leaning toward a move to Manchester United. The player is believed to favor the club’s long-term project and has a strong relationship with members of the United recruitment team, who have followed his development closely since his time at Red Bull Salzburg.

A final decision is expected in the coming weeks as Leipzig await formal bids. The Bundesliga side is unlikely to entertain a deal below their valuation, but are prepared to negotiate on structure and add-ons depending on the player’s preference.

Šeško’s future now appears to rest on which club is able to act decisively — and whether they can convince both Leipzig and the player that their offer aligns with his career ambitions.
