Menlo Park, CA – July 30, 2025
Just ahead of Meta’s Q2 earnings release, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has published a sweeping new manifesto detailing his ambition to deliver “personal superintelligence”—a vision for AI technology that empowers individuals rather than replaces them.

Zuckerberg’s statement, released Wednesday morning, outlines Meta’s commitment to building highly personalized and accessible AI tools capable of helping people achieve their goals, unleash creativity, build stronger relationships, and grow personally.

“An even more meaningful impact on our lives will likely come from everyone having a personal superintelligence… helping you be a better friend, create what you want to see in the world, and grow into the person you aspire to be,” he wrote.

🔬 A New Era: Meta Superintelligence Labs

The manifesto comes during a major reorganization inside Meta, which has formed a new elite division called Meta Superintelligence Labs. This internal group, described as operating like a startup within the larger Meta structure, aims to accelerate AI model development free from corporate red tape.

The initiative has already attracted top AI researchers from competitors like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind, following an aggressive recruitment drive. In addition, Meta recently secured a partnership with Scale AI, investing $14.3 billion in data annotation to feed the next generation of AI models.

Meta is investing heavily to catch up after being outpaced in benchmark tests and innovation pipelines by competitors. Zuckerberg believes his vision—grounded in open-source development and individual empowerment—offers a critical differentiator.

🧠 A Human-Centered Alternative to Centralized AI

Zuckerberg’s manifesto includes subtle but clear criticisms of other AI companies. Without naming names, he contrasts Meta’s approach with models that aim to “automate all valuable work,” suggesting that such centralization reduces humans to passive recipients of AI-generated prosperity.

“At Meta, we believe that people pursuing their individual aspirations is how we have always made progress expanding prosperity, science, health, and culture,” he added.

This statement positions Meta’s open-source AI policy as an ideological alternative to more secretive development models like those employed by OpenAI and Anthropic.

💡 What’s Next?

Zuckerberg did not outline technical specifics or timelines but framed the manifesto as a philosophical north star. His comments signal that Meta’s future in AI will be rooted in user empowerment, modular development, and large-scale accessibility—perhaps leveraging platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp as future delivery vehicles.

The company’s earnings report later today is expected to include further updates on its AI investment strategy and performance in the face of growing competition.
