London, July 30, 2025 — Chelsea Football Club has agreed a £37 million transfer deal with Ajax for the signing of 19-year-old Dutch defender Jorrel Hato. The deal, which includes additional performance-related add-ons, is subject to the player passing a medical examination in London.
Hato, who has already made over 100 first-team appearances for Ajax, is set to sign a seven-year contract with Chelsea, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2032. Known for his versatility, Hato can operate both as a left-back and a center-back, providing valuable options for Chelsea’s defensive lineup.
This signing represents Chelsea’s eighth acquisition of the summer as the club continues its significant investment in youthful talent to bolster the squad ahead of the new season. Chelsea’s summer transfer spending now exceeds £250 million.
The club aims to strengthen its defense and increase competition for places, with Hato expected to compete with established players such as Marc Cucurella.
