TEL AVIV, July 31, 2025
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Wednesday that the Israeli military has launched targeted strikes on Hezbollah’s precision missile production infrastructure in Lebanon, including what he described as the group’s largest known facility of its kind.

According to Katz, the attacks were aimed at halting Hezbollah’s attempts to rehabilitate and expand its weapons capabilities amid rising regional tensions.

Largest Precision Missile Site Targeted

“The Israeli army is attacking Hezbollah’s infrastructure in Lebanon, including the largest precision missile production site, and other strategic sites that the organization is trying to rebuild,” Katz stated in an official update.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have not disclosed the exact locations of the strikes but confirmed that multiple Hezbollah targets — some reportedly located in southern and eastern Lebanon — were engaged in the overnight operation.

Regional Tensions on the Rise

The strikes come as cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah intensify, raising fears of a broader conflict along the Israeli-Lebanese border. In recent weeks, Hezbollah has increased its presence and military activity in southern Lebanon, while Israel has carried out several preemptive air and drone strikes.

Lebanese authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the latest Israeli action. However, local media reports indicate damage to infrastructure in areas near Baalbek and southern Nabatieh.

Strategic Shift in Israel’s Response

Analysts suggest that targeting missile production facilities signals a strategic shift by Israel toward degrading Hezbollah’s long-term military capabilities, rather than simply responding to immediate threats.

“This is not just about responding to rockets or border fire,” said Amos Gilad, a former senior Israeli defense official. “It’s about sending a message that Israel will not allow Hezbollah to reconstitute strategic assets deep inside Lebanon.”

No Immediate Reports of Casualties

As of Wednesday evening, there were no confirmed reports of casualties. The Israeli government has stressed that its military actions are directed at military infrastructure and not civilian areas.

International observers, including the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), have called for restraint from both sides to prevent further escalation in a region already under pressure due to the ongoing Gaza conflict and wider Middle East tensions.
