July 31, 2025 – Liverpool Football Club is intensifying efforts to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi during the ongoing summer transfer window. The 24-year-old England international has emerged as a key target as Liverpool looks to strengthen its defensive lineup ahead of the new season.
Guehi, whose contract with Crystal Palace enters its final year in 2026, is reportedly keen on the move, viewing it as a significant step to compete at the highest level domestically and in Europe. The clubs are understood to be in advanced discussions over a transfer fee reported to be around £45 million.
Liverpool’s need for defensive reinforcements has grown following the expected departure of young defender Jarell Quansah. The club has already added Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and Florian Wirtz this summer, and the potential signing of Guehi would further strengthen the backline, complementing established players such as Virgil van Dijk.
Crystal Palace are actively pursuing a replacement for Guehi, reportedly engaging in talks for Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande to fill the vacancy.
As the transfer window progresses, Liverpool’s pursuit of Guehi highlights the club’s determination to maintain competitiveness and build a squad capable of challenging for major honours in the 2025-26 season.
