Dharmasthala – July 31, 2025
In a major breakthrough in the long-running Dharmasthala missing persons investigation, police confirmed on Wednesday that partial human skeletal remains were discovered at a site identified as Spot 6. The remains were found during a coordinated excavation by local authorities and forensic experts, who have been combing multiple locations over recent weeks.
Senior officers involved in the case described the discovery as a “significant development” and confirmed that the bones were located based on a combination of digital evidence, ground intelligence, and witness testimonies. Initial forensic assessments have confirmed that the remains are human, though formal identification through DNA testing is still pending.
“This is the first concrete piece of physical evidence recovered in this investigation,” a senior Karnataka Police official stated. “It offers a promising lead in what has been a highly complex and sensitive case.”
The Dharmasthala case has drawn national attention due to the high-profile nature of the individuals involved and the prolonged absence of clarity regarding the whereabouts of the missing person. The excavation at Spot 6, located on the outskirts of Dharmasthala, was one of several identified search zones. Authorities believe further remains or evidence may still be uncovered in the surrounding area.
The skeletal fragments have been transferred to the state forensic laboratory in Bengaluru for detailed analysis. A full forensic report, including DNA results and a preliminary estimation of time of death, is expected within the next few days.
Police have urged the public and media to refrain from speculation until official results are confirmed. Investigators are continuing their search operations in the region and have not ruled out additional arrests or charges depending on the outcome of the forensic examination.
Further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
