Chicago, 31 July 2025 — Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim expressed satisfaction with his team’s display following their convincing 4–1 win against Bournemouth in the Premier League Summer Series held at Soldier Field, Chicago.
Amorim noted a significant improvement in the team’s cohesion and intensity compared to previous performances, stating, “We looked like a different team today.” He highlighted that the players are connecting better both on and off the pitch, contributing to a faster and stronger playing style. Despite the encouraging result, Amorim cautioned that pre-season form does not always predict the challenges of the upcoming competitive season.
The match saw early dominance from Manchester United, with Rasmus Højlund opening the scoring in the eighth minute, followed closely by Patrick Dorgu who doubled the lead. Amad Diallo added a third goal before substitute Ethan Williams capped the scoring. Bournemouth’s only goal was an own goal by Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt.
Special praise was reserved for Patrick Dorgu, who not only scored but also assisted during the match. Amorim described the young defender’s performance as “impressive,” highlighting his strength, technique, and defensive contributions. The manager emphasized that Dorgu is increasingly demonstrating the qualities expected of a Manchester United player.
Looking ahead, Amorim acknowledged ongoing transfer speculation, particularly regarding RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Šeško. While refraining from direct comment on rumors, Amorim stressed the importance of continuing to develop the current squad’s cohesion and expressed confidence in the team’s progress based on pre-season performances.
Manchester United will conclude their participation in the Premier League Summer Series with a fixture against Everton in Atlanta, aiming to maintain their positive momentum ahead of the new season.
