Riyadh – July 31, 2025 — The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has officially welcomed recent announcements by Canada and Malta expressing their intention to recognize the State of Palestine, calling the decisions a significant step toward justice and stability in the Middle East.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its longstanding support for the Palestinian cause and urged other countries to follow the lead of Canada and Malta. The Kingdom emphasized that broad international recognition of Palestinian statehood is a vital component of a just and comprehensive resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“These announcements are aligned with international efforts to secure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital,” the statement read.

Canada and Malta are among a growing number of nations signalling their readiness to recognize Palestinian statehood, particularly ahead of the United Nations General Assembly session scheduled for September. France and the United Kingdom have also indicated plans to reconsider their stance.

Saudi Arabia reiterated its commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative and called on the international community to take meaningful steps to end the ongoing occupation and ensure lasting peace in the region.
