Singapore – July 31, 2025
The Government of Singapore has reaffirmed its long-standing position in support of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, expressing its readiness “in principle” to recognize the State of Palestine.
In an official statement issued this week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized Singapore’s consistent support for the right of Palestinians to a homeland, achievable through a negotiated two-state framework aligned with relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
“Singapore has consistently supported the right of Palestinians to their own homeland based on a negotiated two-State solution consistent with the relevant UNSC resolutions. We believe this is the only viable pathway to achieving a comprehensive, just, and durable solution to this long-standing conflict,” the statement said.
The declaration marks a notable diplomatic development, as several countries have recently moved toward recognizing Palestinian statehood amid heightened international focus on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the protracted Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The statement added that Singapore remains committed to constructive dialogue and multilateral cooperation aimed at achieving lasting peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians. “To this end, we are prepared, in principle, to recognize the State of Palestine,” the ministry noted.
Singapore’s announcement aligns with a growing chorus of international voices calling for the formal recognition of Palestinian statehood as a means to support peace efforts and reaffirm the rights of Palestinian people under international law.
The government did not provide a timeline for formal recognition but reiterated that any such decision would be grounded in Singapore’s broader commitment to international norms, diplomacy, and regional stability.
