Colombo, July 31, 2025 — Sri Lanka has recorded over 1.3 million international tourist arrivals so far this year, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s ongoing tourism recovery.
According to data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), a total of 1,341,953 visitors have arrived in the country as of July 27, 2025. India remains the leading source market, contributing 274,919 arrivals, followed by notable numbers from the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, China, France, Australia, and the Netherlands.
The month of July saw 173,909 tourists visit the island, with the highest single-day arrival figure recorded on July 26, when 7,579 travelers arrived.
Despite these encouraging figures, Sri Lanka continues to work towards its ambitious target of three million tourist arrivals for the year. To meet this goal, the country needs to attract approximately 1.7 million additional visitors in the remaining months, which would require an average monthly arrival rate exceeding 280,000 tourists.
In a bid to boost arrivals and stimulate economic growth, the government has introduced a visa fee waiver for citizens from 40 countries, a move expected to further enhance Sri Lanka’s appeal as a premier travel destination.
The SLTDA remains optimistic about the tourism sector’s performance and is actively implementing strategies to sustain momentum as the country aims to strengthen its position in the competitive global tourism market.
