Tehran – July 31, 2025
The Iranian government has strongly condemned the latest round of sanctions imposed by the United States, calling them “malicious” and politically motivated efforts to target Iran’s oil trade.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the new sanctions represented a continued violation of international law and a deliberate attempt to undermine Iran’s economic sovereignty. The response follows Washington’s announcement of a sweeping set of sanctions targeting over 115 individuals, entities, and vessels allegedly involved in facilitating Iranian oil exports.
“These aggressive and unilateral sanctions once again show the United States’ disregard for international norms and its use of economic coercion as a political tool,” the statement said.
Iran’s oil sector remains a cornerstone of its economy, and the government has repeatedly stated that such sanctions will not deter it from pursuing legal international trade. Officials also claimed that the latest restrictions are intended to pressure Tehran amid heightened tensions over regional security and ongoing diplomatic disagreements, including over Iran’s nuclear program.
Iran vowed to continue expanding trade relations with allied countries and signaled that retaliatory measures may be considered. Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also stated that Iran will raise the issue with international bodies and urged other nations to resist what he called “bullying tactics.”
The United States has defended its actions as part of a broader effort to curb Iran’s regional influence and nuclear ambitions, while insisting that the sanctions target networks supporting destabilizing activities rather than the Iranian people directly.
Tensions between the two nations remain high, with diplomatic efforts stalled and economic measures increasingly shaping the contours of the conflict.
