Honolulu, July 30, 2025 — In response to a tsunami alert issued earlier today, MarineTraffic data shows that a total of 91 vessels have departed Honolulu Harbor in recent hours. The vessels include a wide range of maritime traffic, from commercial fishing boats and private pleasure crafts to U.S. Coast Guard ships.

Authorities confirmed that the alert was issued as a precaution following seismic activity in the Pacific, prompting port operations to initiate emergency protocols. Vessel traffic was advised to move to deeper waters, where the effects of a potential tsunami are less dangerous compared to shallow harbor areas.

Among those evacuating were several deep-sea fishing trawlers, local tour boats, and at least four Coast Guard vessels, which are assisting with monitoring and enforcing the safety perimeter around the harbor. Maritime agencies coordinated closely to ensure a rapid and orderly departure.

The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency has urged coastal residents and boat owners to remain vigilant and continue following official updates. No significant damage or casualties have been reported so far, and authorities say they are prepared to respond if the situation escalates.

Further assessments are ongoing as monitoring stations across the Pacific region collect data to determine the risk level. Officials emphasize that while the movement of vessels is a precautionary measure, the situation remains fluid.

More updates are expected from the U.S. Geological Survey and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center later this evening.
