SPIELBERG, July 31, 2025
Three-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen has officially put an end to the swirling speculation about his future by announcing he will remain with Red Bull Racing for the 2026 season.

The confirmation came during a media session ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, where the Dutch driver addressed mounting rumors linking him with potential moves — including to Mercedes or Aston Martin — amid ongoing tensions and structural changes within the Red Bull camp.

Loyalty Over Uncertainty

“I’m staying with Red Bull,” Verstappen told reporters. “There’s been a lot of noise recently, but my focus is on driving and winning. Red Bull has given me everything — and I believe we can continue to succeed together.”

The decision reaffirms Verstappen’s long-term contract with the team, which technically runs until 2028. But recent developments — including internal management shake-ups and the anticipated shift in engine regulations for 2026 — had fueled doubts about his future.

A Critical Year Ahead

Verstappen’s statement comes at a pivotal time for Red Bull as the team prepares for major regulatory changes in 2026, including the introduction of new power units and a revised chassis design philosophy. The team is developing its own engine in partnership with Red Bull Powertrains and Ford, and Verstappen’s continued presence is expected to provide vital stability.

“Max is not only the best driver on the grid, he’s also central to our development going forward,” said Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner. “We’re delighted he’s reaffirmed his commitment.”

Focus Back on the Track

With his future secured — at least for now — Verstappen can return his focus to what he does best: racing. He currently leads the 2025 championship standings with a commanding points advantage, seeking his fourth consecutive world title.

“The goal remains the same — to win races and championships,” Verstappen said. “Now that everything is clear, we can put all our energy into finishing this season strong.”

The announcement is expected to bring relief to Red Bull’s engineering and commercial teams, as well as fans who have backed Verstappen since his record-breaking debut as a teenager in 2015.
