Istanbul, 31 July 2025 — Galatasaray have confirmed the permanent signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli after the forward’s record-setting loan spell last season.

Osimhen, 26, scored 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions during the 2024-25 campaign, leading Galatasaray to a domestic double of the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup. His prolific form convinced the Istanbul club to activate a purchase clause and conclude negotiations with Napoli for a long-term deal. Financial terms have not been disclosed, though club sources describe the transfer as one of the most significant investments in Turkish football to date.

“Victor’s impact was immediate and decisive,” Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek said in a statement. “Securing his services on a permanent basis underlines our ambition to remain competitive at the highest level in Turkey and Europe.”

Osimhen originally joined Napoli in 2020 from Lille but sought regular first-team football last year. The loan move to Galatasaray revitalised his career, culminating in the striker winning the Süper Lig Golden Boot and being named Player of the Season.

In his remarks to club media, Osimhen thanked Napoli for their support and expressed enthusiasm for his future in Istanbul. “Galatasaray gave me the platform to play my best football,” he said. “I feel at home here and look forward to helping the team achieve even greater success.”

Head coach Okan Buruk is expected to build his attacking plans around the Nigerian international as Galatasaray prepare for Champions League qualifiers in August. The club has already begun pre-season training, with Osimhen scheduled to rejoin the squad later this week.

With the transfer window still open, Galatasaray are also exploring additional reinforcements, but securing Osimhen’s signature is viewed as the cornerstone of their summer business.
