Colombo, August 1, 2025 — The Lanka Premier League (LPL) is set to return for its sixth season on November 27, Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed today, marking another milestone for the country’s premier T20 tournament.

The announcement comes amid growing anticipation from fans and players alike, with organisers promising an even more competitive and entertaining edition this year. The tournament is expected to run until mid-December, though the final match schedule and venue list are yet to be released.

Since its launch in 2020, the LPL has evolved into a vital platform for nurturing local talent while drawing marquee international players to Sri Lankan grounds. Last year’s edition saw packed stadiums and nail-biting finishes, setting a high bar for the upcoming season.

Sri Lanka Cricket officials stated that preparations are already in motion to enhance player facilities, tighten security protocols, and expand broadcast reach globally. “We want to ensure LPL 2025 is not just a tournament, but an experience that reflects the passion Sri Lanka has for the game,” an official close to the organising committee said.

Cricketers, fans, and franchise owners are expected to gather for the official team draft in the coming weeks. With major names already expressing interest, expectations are high that LPL 2025 will deliver both excitement on the pitch and renewed momentum for Sri Lankan cricket’s future.
