Newcastle, August 2, 2025 — Swedish international Alexander Isak is expected to rejoin Newcastle United’s first-team training at their Benton base this week, following his recovery from a minor thigh injury that ruled him out of the club’s pre-season tour of Asia.
The 25-year-old striker, who had been undergoing rehabilitation at his former club Real Sociedad’s training facility in Spain, has now completed the final stages of his fitness programme and is set to return to full training ahead of the new Premier League season.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe had previously confirmed the club was closely monitoring Isak’s recovery, describing the absence from pre-season as “precautionary.”
Meanwhile, sources close to The Athletic report that Liverpool recently had an offer for the forward turned down. Although Newcastle have made clear that Isak is not for sale, the Merseyside club’s interest is understood to remain active, with Jürgen Klopp known to be an admirer of the versatile attacker.
Isak, who scored 18 goals in all competitions last season, has emerged as a central figure in Newcastle’s attacking setup. His pace, intelligence, and clinical finishing have made him a fan favourite at St. James’ Park — and a high-value asset amid growing transfer speculation.
With Newcastle’s focus now turning to their opening fixture of the 2025/26 season, Isak’s return will be a timely boost. Whether Liverpool return with an improved bid remains to be seen, but Newcastle’s stance for now appears firm: the Swede is staying.
