Colombo, August 3, 2025 — The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) announced today an extension of the validity period for Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) issued for the submission of income tax returns for the year of assessment 2024/2025.

According to the official statement, the validity of all PINs already issued will now be extended until November 30, 2025. This move aims to provide taxpayers with additional time to comply with filing requirements amid ongoing efforts to facilitate smoother tax processes.

The extension allows individuals and entities more flexibility in completing their income tax returns without the need to reapply for new PINs, reducing administrative burdens.

The IRD encouraged taxpayers to take advantage of this extended period and submit their returns promptly to avoid last-minute delays.

This decision reflects the department’s commitment to enhancing taxpayer services and supporting compliance with national tax laws.
