Jerusalem, August 4, 2025 — As efforts to negotiate a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages held by Hamas falter, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed his commitment to achieving freedom for captives through a decisive military campaign. However, this stance has drawn sharp criticism from the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, representing many of the hostage families.

According to reports from Israeli diplomatic sources, Netanyahu’s government is resolved to pursue a forceful military operation aimed at dismantling Hamas’s hold and ending the hostage crisis. Yet the families directly affected by the conflict warn that this approach risks further devastation.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu is leading Israel and the hostages to devastation,” the Forum stated in a strongly worded response. They described the hope of releasing hostages through military action as a “fraud” and an “illusion,” calling instead for renewed diplomatic efforts and caution against escalation.

The Forum’s statement reflects the anguish and frustration of families who have long advocated for peaceful resolutions and fear the lives of their loved ones could be further imperiled by intensified conflict.

The Israeli government has so far refrained from public comment on the leaked reports, maintaining its position that ending hostage-taking and securing national security require firm military resolve. Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Forces continue operations in Gaza, where violence persists and civilian suffering mounts.

International concern grows as the conflict’s toll deepens, with calls from global leaders urging restraint and dialogue to prevent further loss of life.

For the hostage families, the coming days remain uncertain, their pleas underscoring the profound human cost beneath the headlines of war.
