BARCELONA – August 5, 2025
FC Barcelona has reached a full agreement with defender Jules Koundé on a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2030, sources close to the negotiations confirmed today.
The legal teams representing both the club and the player have finalised and approved all documentation, marking the conclusion of weeks of talks to extend the French international’s stay at Camp Nou.
Koundé, 26, has been a vital part of Barça’s backline since his arrival from Sevilla in 2022. His versatility and consistency, playing both as a central defender and right-back, made him a priority for renewal amid reported interest from top European clubs.
While the formal signing and announcement are expected in the coming days, all key contractual elements have been settled, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The new deal is set to include improved financial terms and performance-related bonuses, reflecting Koundé’s growing leadership role within Xavi Hernández’s squad.
Barcelona view the renewal as a cornerstone in their long-term defensive strategy, alongside the likes of Ronald Araújo and Pau Cubarsí.
