NEWCASTLE — August 5, 2025

Newcastle United have officially submitted a €90 million package bid to RB Leipzig for Slovenian striker Benjamin Šeško, marking their most ambitious move of the summer transfer window.

The offer includes €80 million upfront and €10 million in performance-based add-ons, sources close to the negotiations confirmed on Monday. The Magpies are eager to secure the 22-year-old forward, who is considered one of Europe’s most promising young talents.

Despite the magnitude of the bid, Šeško has yet to make a final decision on his future. The player is understood to be assessing his options, with Manchester United also still in the race. United have reportedly communicated to Leipzig that they will make a formal offer if the player chooses them over Newcastle.

RB Leipzig, while open to negotiations, are waiting on Šeško’s signal before proceeding with either club. The Bundesliga side are not under pressure to sell, but the structure of Newcastle’s proposal—especially the immediate cash injection—has made it a serious offer.

Šeško, who netted 19 goals for Leipzig last season, is being courted as a long-term attacking solution. Newcastle see him as a pivotal piece for their Champions League ambitions, while Manchester United view him as a potential successor to their aging forward line.

As of now, the decision lies squarely with the player.
