Pakistan — Supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan have launched a fresh wave of nationwide protests, vowing to continue demonstrations until what they describe as “true democracy” is restored in the country.

The protests, organized by Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, began eight months after earlier demonstrations escalated into violence, prompting a severe government crackdown. This new campaign reflects mounting frustration among Khan’s backers, who allege political suppression, election interference, and an erosion of civil liberties under the current administration.

PTI leaders say the protests will continue across cities and towns until their demands for transparent governance, judicial independence, and fair electoral processes are met.

Imran Khan, who remains in custody on multiple charges widely viewed by his supporters as politically motivated, has repeatedly claimed that his removal from office and subsequent legal troubles are part of a broader effort to sideline him from the political arena.

Authorities have deployed security forces in key urban areas to prevent unrest, while civil rights groups warn of further tensions if dialogue between the government and opposition forces does not resume.
