Colombo — The High Court today took up the case against 24 defendants, including Naufer Maulavi, charged with conspiracy and aiding the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks. The hearing was conducted before a three-judge bench comprising Justices Navaratne Marasinghe, Pradeep Abeyratne, and Sujeewa Nissanka.

All accused were presented in court under heavy security, according to local reporters. However, the court ordered a postponement of the hearing of evidence after one defendant filed an appeal with the Supreme Court.

The next hearing date has been set for September 11. The case, initiated by the Attorney General under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), continues with all defendants held in remand custody as per court directives.

This high-profile trial remains central to Sri Lanka’s ongoing efforts to address the tragic events of Easter Sunday 2019, which claimed hundreds of lives and deeply impacted the nation.
