Washington, USA — Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has openly condemned both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump for their unwavering support of Israel’s military operations in Gaza, calling Biden “wrong” and Trump “even worse.”

Despite growing dissent within the Democratic Party and widespread calls to halt US military aid to Israel, Biden has maintained steadfast backing for the country’s campaign in Gaza. Trump, since leaving office, has continued to advocate for the same policy stance.

In a message posted on X, Sanders appealed directly to the American public across party lines, stating, “The American people – Democrats, Republicans, Independents – do not want to continue spending billions of taxpayer dollars to starve children. Not another penny for Netanyahu’s war machine.”

Sanders has been a vocal critic of US weapons sales to Israel, repeatedly introducing Senate resolutions aimed at suspending these transfers. Although previous efforts have failed, a recent vote in late July marked a milestone, with a record number of lawmakers supporting a suspension of weapons shipments — a development Palestinian rights advocates in the US hailed as a historic sign of progress.

The senator’s remarks highlight the increasing pressure on US policymakers to reconsider their role in the ongoing conflict and address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
