Newcastle, England — Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has downplayed reports suggesting the club has told striker Alexander Isak he must remain at St James’ Park this summer.
Speaking to reporters, Howe said: “No, that’s not something I’m aware of. I have no knowledge of that.” He added that his focus remains on keeping a committed squad: “I want players who really want to play for this club.”
Isak has been at the centre of intense transfer speculation in recent weeks, with Liverpool strongly linked to the Sweden international. Newcastle’s stance on the player’s future has been widely debated, but Howe’s comments appear aimed at cooling talk of internal tensions over the matter.
