Amman, Jordan — The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has urged that vital food supplies currently held in Jordan be allowed into Gaza to address the growing humanitarian crisis.
In a recent statement posted on X, UNRWA highlighted that its stockpile includes essential food items such as flour, rice, legumes, canned meat, and fish, all ready for distribution across the Gaza Strip.
“Let UNRWA bring this aid in. Let us distribute it to the people in need across the Gaza Strip,” the agency appealed.
The call comes amid continued restrictions on humanitarian deliveries into Gaza, where a blockade has severely limited access to food and medical supplies. Since October 2023, the starvation crisis has claimed over 200 lives, with many more suffering from severe shortages in recent weeks.
UNRWA’s appeal underscores the urgency of opening humanitarian corridors to alleviate the dire conditions faced by civilians in Gaza.
