Colombo, Sri Lanka – Eighteen-year-old Yevan David has secured his place in motorsport history by becoming the first Sri Lankan driver to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, signing with AIX Racing for the 2026 season.
David, currently in contention for the Euroformula Open title, has enjoyed a standout year with the dominant Motopark team — claiming four victories, five additional podium finishes, and a pole position so far. His debut in the final round of 2024 yielded two wins and a third place, signalling his rapid rise through the junior single-seater ranks.
Before his current campaign, David raced in the Eurocup-3, Spanish F4, and UAE F4 Championships in 2024, marking his first full season in cars after moving up from karting. His karting career was equally decorated, including a fourth-place finish in the 2020 IAME Asia Cup (X30 Junior), sixth in the 2021 FIA Karting Academy Trophy, a silver medal in the Motorsport Games’ Karting Sprint Senior event, and competitive outings in the 2023 WSK Champions Cup and FIA World Cup for KZ2 shifter karts.
Speaking on his landmark move to FIA F3, David expressed pride in representing Sri Lanka on the global stage.
“Very thankful to have this opportunity to be racing as the first Sri Lankan driver in Formula 3, and with AIX Racing,” he said. “They’ve proved themselves and I’m excited to achieve great milestones with them for the season ahead.”
David becomes AIX Racing’s first confirmed FIA F3 signing for 2026. The team has also named Eurocup-3 racer Emmo Fittipaldi in its Formula 2 line-up for next year, signalling a strong focus on nurturing emerging talent.
For Sri Lanka — a nation without a deep tradition in international single-seater racing — David’s signing marks a breakthrough moment and could inspire a new generation of drivers aiming for the highest levels of motorsport.
