Liverpool, England — Liverpool’s Uruguay striker Darwin Núñez has completed a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal on a three-year contract, the clubs confirmed on Saturday.

While neither club disclosed the fee, British media reported that the 26-year-old’s transfer is worth around €53 million ($61.7 million). Núñez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022, scored 33 goals in 96 appearances but struggled for consistency in his two seasons at Anfield.

The move comes as Liverpool are heavily linked with Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano described a potential deal as “absolutely on, absolutely concrete, and absolutely likely,” despite Newcastle’s public insistence that the Sweden international is not for sale this summer.

If completed, Isak’s arrival would mark a high-profile replacement for Núñez and a major statement in Liverpool’s attack rebuild.
