Gaza City — The enclave’s “Takiya” community kitchens, long considered the final safety net for thousands facing hunger, are on the brink of shutting down amid a worsening famine.
Once a dependable lifeline, the kitchens are now overwhelmed by soaring demand and dwindling supplies. Residents queue for hours in searing heat, with some suffering injuries in desperate attempts to secure a small portion of food.
Humanitarian agencies warn that without immediate international intervention, the collapse of this fragile network could push Gaza’s already dire hunger crisis into outright catastrophe.
Local volunteers say they are unable to meet even a fraction of the need, with food stocks nearly exhausted and supply routes choked by the ongoing siege.
