Mannar, Sri Lanka – The Sri Lanka Navy has arrested seven Indian fishermen for allegedly engaging in illegal fishing within Sri Lankan territorial waters off Mannar.

The North Central Naval Command conducted the operation, seizing the fishing boat involved in the poaching activity. Both the vessel and the fishermen were taken to Talaimannar Pier and handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Mannar to initiate legal action.

The Navy emphasized the ongoing threat posed by foreign fishing vessels to the livelihoods of local fishermen and reaffirmed its commitment to regular patrols and operations aimed at preventing such incursions into Sri Lankan waters.
