TEL AVIV, Israel — Thousands of protesters gathered in central Tel Aviv to voice their opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent plan to capture Gaza City and escalate military operations in the Palestinian enclave. Demonstrators also called urgently for the release of hostages held amid the ongoing conflict.
The large-scale rally reflects growing domestic unease over the government’s approach to the 22-month war in Gaza, which has resulted in significant civilian casualties and widespread destruction. Many protesters expressed concern about the humanitarian crisis worsening further with intensified military actions.
Alongside calls for peace, demonstrators demanded greater transparency and efforts to secure the safe return of hostages taken during the conflict, emphasizing the urgent need for dialogue and humanitarian solutions.
The protest marks one of the largest public gatherings against the government’s Gaza policy since hostilities escalated. Security forces maintained a visible presence but the event remained largely peaceful.
